Welcome to the VISTA house! Because VISTA volunteers make very small living stipends, TLU was looking for housing to help. A woman living a block from campus, ended up selling her house to TLU, and they gave the house over to the VISTAs working as part of "Partnership for a Better Segiun." There are 5 VISTAs working here in Seguin, and three are in the house (plus me!). This house is pretty old. We moved in with paint peeling off the walls, cracks in the ceiling, and tilting floors. Every now and then, we feel a little drunk in our room for how much the floor is tilting. And, the longer we live here, the tiltier it becomes. Doors don't open all the way anymore because they can't get past the floor. We've painted over the cracks, our roommates re-tiled the floors, and we've learned to pre-heat the oven 3 hours before using it. Cris and I actually have a great room, that we've been able to have a living/tv room area, a bedroom area, and office/desk space. Even with all its imperfections, this house is super cute and has been great to us, and we love the space here!
Look at how cute it is!
Here's our back parking lot
This is our big room. Our bed? Two dorm room twin beds duck taped together. Classy. Our office, library, "walk in closet" area (we play up our space as much as we can)
Here's our living room and entertainment center. Cris rigged a surround sound system with his speakers.
There's more to see in the rest of our house. But you have to come see it for yourself. Look at that futon waiting for you.
