An old friend, and a new graduate
Yesterday was another day spent in San Antonio. After helping Cintia clean up her house, Cris and I went into town. We spent lots of time in colorful downtown markets, looking at beautiful Mexican art. We were especially excited about the Alamo Fiesta store - which was the coolest ever. We've decided when we make our millions, we will come to Texas, and buy truckloads of market goods - like tiles, statues, cloth and paintings. Afterwards, my soul friend from Illinois flew all the way down to grab a beer with me. Well, not exactly. She was her because her alma mater was in the Women's College Volleyball Championship Finals. I've never actually met Annie on U.S. soil, but we've rendezvoused twice in Mexico where we mastered the art of building cinder block homes. I wish we could have had more time than just a beer, but it was great to see her. Unfortunately, Illinois didn't win - but she did get some cool confetti eggs and an orange lucha libre mask as compensation.
After Annie, we came back home for a dinner party at Daniel and Maria Guerra's house. Maria is a board member at Cris' work, and two of their daughters dance there. Daniel and Maria are a couple our age, and it was Daniel's graduation from Texas Lutheran University. It was really nice to have great food - pozole has become my favorite! But even better, was being around great people. It was fun to stand around the fire pit, joking, laughing and telling stories. It felt like being back home with Cris' family in Mount Vernon. Congratulations Daniel!
Daniel's awesome cake - we're have way through eating 1984
Daniel and Maria - great hosts!
