My favorite TV show is Top Chef. I was super surprised and happy to find out that this season was filmed right here, in Texas. The show started in San Antonio this season, and the very first judge, was the owner and chef of a restaurant that Courtney, my friend Saul (while he was in town working for Boeing), and I went to – the restaurant is called La Gloria. It’s located in the newly renovated but historic Pearl Brewery. The Pearl houses the only other branch of the Culinary Institute of America, outside of its only other campus in New York State. In tonight’s episode, the chefs visited Austin for the first time. They worked out of Le Courdon Bleu, Austin Campus. Earlier the year, Courtney and I went to an open house where they demonstrated how to make a delicious fall butternut squash, pumpkin and sweet potato soup. I’m excited to see how this season will progress, and if they visit any of the other wonderful places we’ve visited between San Antonio and Austin.
